Some Grade 6 students participate in a survey about their favourite sports.

The results are shown in the table below.

Complete the table.

Complete the graph below using the percents.

Hockey                22        22/50 = 0.44 x100 = 44%

Soccer                 11

Basketball           14

Volleyball           3

Step 1: find out how many students do sports

22+11+14+3 = 50 students total

Jackie fills the triangular prism pictured below with water. Then she empties the water into a rectangular prism.

Determine the number of times that Jackie must fll the triangular prism with water to fll a

rectangular prism that is 10 cm long, 2 cm wide and 12 cm high.

Justify your answer.

Step 1: Volume of the triangular prism:

(Area of the triangle x the length)/2

Area of triangle = (3x2)/2 = 3cm2

Length = 5cm

Volume of the triangular prism: (3 x 5)/2 = 7.5cm3

Step 2: Volume of the rectangular prism: length x width x height

10 x 2 x 12 = 240cm3

Step 3: How many times the triangular prism must pour to fill the rectangular prism

240/7.5 = 32 times
