You want to buy a used car for $5500 and decide to borrow money from the Bank of Crooks.

You don’t need a down payment for this car and the Crooks uses this algebraic formula to determine your monthly payment.

1.13T = 15N + D

where T is the price of the car

1.13 is the 13% HST (thus 1.13T is the total cost you must pay)

N is the number of months for your payment

D is the down payment (ZERO)

-       How many months will it take you to pay for this car (ans: 414.33 months)
