- note the PDF pages are different from the textbook pages. It is Unit 7 and you will learn graphs and data

- do the question in page 388 (400 in the link)

Math Quiz everyweek from now on

To make sure you pay attention in class and do your homework

Scrambled egg exaperiments

Water at room temperature has a density of 1g/mL

Anything with a lower density (e.g. oil) will float on top of water

Higher density (e.g. a coin) will sink

Experiment 1

- Put ice cubes in a glass of water. Ice floats. \This means solid water (ice) has a higher density

- for most substance, the solids are more dense than the liquid

- the other exception is scrambled eggs

Experiment 2

- 2 eggs, scramble

-cook it in a hot pan

- put the cooked eggs in water to see if it sinks or floats

- find out why solid scrambled eggs have a higher density than the liquid after cooking

 ORANGE

Case 1

- a bag of letters from A to Z

- pick 1 letter at a time

- put it back into the bag afterwards

- what is the probability of spelling the word "ORANGE" correctly?

- note: no repeated letter in ORANGE

Case 2

BANANA

- A and N are repeated

- what is the probability of spelling it right

 8C

- lets' redo the TWO DICE probability question again

- I will check your work tomorrow. Get them done please

- 2 dice, 75 attempts, determine the probability of getting an even outcome

(e.g. 1-3 = 4, thus even outcomes)

Believe it or not, in theory, there is  57.1% chance (12/21) of getting an even outcome.

Only 42.9% (9/21) of an odd outcome.

Test this with your experiments. Compare theoretical and experimental results

MATHEMATICS

- these letters are written in separate cards

- one card is drawn at a time. Then put back

- what is the probability of getting a vowel card? Explain

- If 666 cards are drawn, approximately how many vowel cards are there?

8D

- find five very long words (at least 10 letters long) and compose five questions

1234 cards are drawn randomly. How many vowel cards are there for each word

- show sample calculations
