Water at room temperature has a density of 1g/mL
Anything with a lower density (e.g. oil) will float on top of water
Higher density (e.g. a coin) will sink
Experiment 1
- Put ice cubes in a glass of water. Ice floats. \This means solid water (ice) has a higher density
- for most substance, the solids are more dense than the liquid
- the other exception is scrambled eggs
Experiment 2
- 2 eggs, scramble
-cook it in a hot pan
- put the cooked eggs in water to see if it sinks or floats
- find out why solid scrambled eggs have a higher density than the liquid after cooking
