Work on the DTP document on food

- let's take a look at what my G11 student is writing about food. It is not about the taste, but the higher level thinking about food production and family enjoying the experience.

- perhaps the food does not taste that good but it does bring people together. Can't beat that

How has the role of food played in your life? How has it helped you to become the person you are

  • I am very fortunate to live in Canada since food, even some expensive items, is often widely available in most places

  • From a young age, I learned how to bake and cook with my grandparents, and honestly, it is a form of art to prepare certain food with the specific ingredients

  • The preparation, planning and right temperature all play an important role when cooking a simple family dinner

  • It is unforgettable when I baked my first batch of chocolate cookies in grade 3 since it took so much time and effort to follow the recipe and prepare all the ingredients to perfection

  • This was truly amazing and all my family and friends enjoyed the boxes of cookies that were sent as their Christmas presents

  • However, without the help of my grandparents, this could not have been done by a 8 year old.

  • Thus, the essence of a meal is not only the taste of the food. Rather, it is the family time that we spend together that afternoon to chat, laugh, and share our excitement when the cookies are ready!! Food brings people together

  • My grandparents grew up in a small village in Iran when it was often hard to get enough to feed the family. The stories that my grandpa told us often remind me not to waste food for every meal even when life is easier in Canada.
