Kwok’s note:
- Kwok’s note:
- We bought a lot of agriculture products from the US and Mexico
-
- In 2022: most farming products are shipped by trucks. Trucks need fuel to transport food to your supermarkets. Fuel is expensive, food will be expensive too
- Korean tangerine: shipped by air, $120 per box (really expensive, and most items are NOT shipped by air)
- Even local food items (Canadian grown products: potatoes, apples, milk, chicken, beef, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, bread) – must be shipped to your local supermarkets by trucks
-
- When C$ is cheap (in December 2022, lower exchange rate against USD and Peso), the agriculture products (fruits and vegetables, meat) will be more expensive for everyone in Canada because it costs more to buy them from USA and Mexico (2022, steaks are very expensive)
- On the other hand, when C$ is expensive (buy less USD and Peso), these products will be cheaper for us to buy in Canada
Homework: 100 items from home, and find where these items are manufactured. Some examples are listed below:
- Item | Country of origin | - Item | Country of origin |
Chromebook | - China | - iPad | China |
Kwok’s Shoes | - Indonesia | - Mask | Canada |
Kwok’s glasses | - Italy | Daniel Kwok’s calculator | Thailand |
