Purple Loosestrife

- introduced to North America by the European explorers

- wetland, wild meadows

- when they dried up, clog the irrigation systems and water pipes (potential floods during wet seasons, summer)

 

During the fall (Sept to Oct), please remove all dried leaves, and branches to prevent potential floods in the area. To prevent flooding in your basement

- flooded basement causes at least $10000 to repair (wet carpet, dried wall, tiles, furnitures)

- Insurance companies will cover flood damage twice in a life time

- flooding may cause raw sewage backup

 

When you come back to Canada from a foreign country (USA, China, Iran, South Korea etc)

- avoid bringing back meat, fruits, plants, vegetables

- dogs at airports or borders will sniff for meat, plants, vegetable (fine for at least $250)
