Sangster Math class, March 4

 March 4, 2022

- gas in the GTA: regular $1.75/litre; it will hit $2.00/litre by the end of March

- pro: less cars on the road, less traffic, and pollution *TTC, car pools

- driving may become unaffordable

- better for the environment

Homework

1)    When C$ = US$ (at par), January 2011

- when C$ is weak, it is good for the exports (Can goods are cheaper for other countries to buy)

- when C$ is strong, it is good for us because foreign products are cheaper to buy

- right now, C$ is not very strong ($100US = C$128)

1)    What are the five important products we buy from US?
- USA is our biggest trading partner

- agriculture products (food), machines (cars, airplanes), semiconductors (computer chips, laptops, cell phones, computers), consumer goods (clothing, shoes, pants)

- with a low C$, these goods become more expensive

Homework for this weekend (March 4)

- What do Americans buy from Canada? Name five products (don’t mention maple syrup)
