I will be teaching the fraction basics this week. Since it is difficult to type fraction properly in the computer, some of the handout will be handwritten.
Some of these topics are listed in your favourite Nelson textbook, Chapter 9. Access it online please (see earlier blog to find out how)
The topics that will be covered:
1) Proper and improper fractions
2) Mixed numbers; how t change improper fractions into mixed numbers
3) How to reduce fractions to lowest terms
3a) Equivalent fractions
4) Addition and subtraction
5) Multiplication and division
6) Simple problem solving based questions
7) Multi-steps problem solving based questions
8) unit test
This will take about 10 days to cover. Do the work and I will post the solutions on the blog. Please do not send me the answers, and you need to develop the responsibility to mark your own work in math.
As a teenager, you are responsible for your own learning. Please send me an email if you have questions. You should also consult parents for their opinion.
Steps and calculations are more important than the answers.
