168 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 7

 

 

12) Mean (average): add up all the data and then divide by how many numbers are there

Mode: most frequently occurred number

Median: middle number

 

e.g. find the mean, mode and median of the following

 

2, 5, 5, 12, 17, 18, 18, 20, 21

 

Mean: (2+5+5+12+17+18+18+20+ 21) = 118

118/9 = 13.11 (mean)

 

Mode: 5, 18 (both 5 and 18 occurs twice)

 

Median: 17

 

What if I have this set of numbers? (only eight numbers here)

2, 5, 5, 12, 17, 18, 20, 21

 

Median is somewhere between 12 and 17. Find the average of 12 and 17

(12+17)/2 = 29/2 = 14.5 (median)

5 x n + 12 = 32

5 x n = 32 – 12

5 x n = 20

N = 20/5

N = 4

 

15) Area of parallelogram = height x base

(don’t need to use the length of the slanted side)

 Area = 2 x 5 = 10

a. (6 x 2)/2 = 6

c. 2 x 4 = 8

d. 6 x 2 = 12 answer = area of parallelogram

 

20) 1 million balloons

100 balloons per bag

 

1 million / 100 = 10000 bags of balloon

 

$2 x 10000 bags = $20000 answer
