7C Speech, first paragraph

7C
- decide on the topic that you want for your speech (pick a topic that you know a lot about)
- you should have written the first paragraph, the introduction about 30 sec long)
- must be interesting and grab the attention of audience
- always ask a question or two to make them think

- now, you will start writing the second and most important paragraph
- strongest argument or most important facts about your topic (90 sec to 2 mins long)
- can go online and do some research
- PLEASE DON'T give me a shopping list: state one fact after another without explaining
- use conjunctions to explain and give examples whenever possible
- best speech is to speak from personal experience with some facts and research
- listen to my student's speech on oil spill again

- she explains what oil spills are
- few personal pronouns
- give examples of BP oil disaster and Lac Megentic accidents (and talk about them in detail)
