1. Why is it possible to smell the perfume from a
distance? Use particle theory to help you explain. A spray of
perfume is usually a spray of small droplets of fragrance (in liquid form).
2. People who have allergies do not like the spring and the
autumn months. This is partly due to the excessive amount of pollen
grains (solids) in the air. By using the particle theory, explain how
these pollen particles get into our respiration system and make us sneeze.
3. Air freshener (Glade – wax like substance) in the bathroom
releases a sweet scent for a short period of time (usually a few weeks).
The sweet scent disappears in the air without leaving any liquid. By
using the particle theory, explain how this happens?
4. Everyone in the classroom can smell Henry’s fart (a
gas). Mr. Trudeau, however, in the office cannot. Use the particle
theory to explain this.
