History Quiz

 https://forms.gle/rTkva4k3ztZ9sT4e7

Tuesday, 27 April 2021

April 27, 2021

Please study for history quiz. There are 15 multiple choice questions, Page 29, 30, 35

 7B

9:15am            ReadWorks.org, two passages. The first one is about invasive species, zebra mussels in the Hudson River, and the second one is about the declining bee population.

www.readworks.org/student

Students enter class code X4534X

the password is 1234

10:00am          Math: multiplication of negative integers

2 × 3                  2 × (-3)                                         (-2) × (-3)

= 6                      = –6                                              = 6

[one positive, one negative = negative]                             [two negatives = positive]

Same thing for division

21 ÷ 3 = 7                    (–21) ÷ 3 = –7                       (–21) ÷ (–3) = 7

Try these questions

12 × 13                        (–12) × 13                                (–12) × (–13)               12 × (–13)

1527 ÷ 3                      (–1527) ÷ 3                              1527 ÷ (–3)                  (–1527) ÷ (–3)

Now. the questions below have three or four steps. Calculate the answers. . . Will the answers be positive or negative?

12 × 13 ÷ (–2)                          (–12) × 13 ÷ (–2)                     (–12) × (–13) ÷ (–2)

(–12) × (–13) ÷ 2                     12 × 13 ÷ 2

20 × 15 ÷ (–4)                          (–20) × 15 ÷ (–4)                     (–20) × (–15) ÷ (–4)

(–20) × (–15) ÷ 4                     20 × 15 ÷ 4

Next part will involve the exponents

32 = 3 × 3 = 9                           (–3)2 = (–3) × (–3) = 9 (the answer is positive because two negatives turn into a positive answer)

(–3)3 = (–3) × (–3) × (–3)= (–27) (the answer is negative because two negatives turn into a positive answer, then multiply by a negative turns into –)

72                               (–7)2                                           (–7)3                                           (-7)5                          (–7)6

10:30am          Break till 10:45am. Students can take a break, have a snack, washroom break

10:45am to 11:45am History, read page 29, 30, 35. Take note. Quiz tomorrow

“This is mad crazy. Look at all this money. This is going to take care of everything. I can’t believe it. Oh, well, I better believe it. Looks like this is my lucky day.”

The Devil: “Wow, think of all the goodies I can buy with the money. . . No, I got to think better. . . I can invite all my friends for my birthday party in a Chuck E Cheese or even more, rent the entire IMAX theatre to preview a TOP Gun, a blockbuster movie that has not been released yet!  That will be cool man, and they will be really impressed!”

“ Hey, think of all the attention I will be getting from school? All the girls will talk to me now and who will not talk to the most popular kid at Rich Man Hill High?”

“ But how should I hide the money from my parents or even the police? My mom checks everything in my bedroom and the school won’t let us use the lockers during the pandemic. . .

“Ahhhh, Mr. Kwok uses many lockers outside his class and maybe I can rent one from him because he loves money. . . Let’s make a deal Kwok.”

The Angel: “I wonder what poor soul would have forgotten this big bag on the sidewalk outside a food bank? Maybe the food bank needs this cash to buy food from the supermarkets to help the hundreds of hungry families in the city??” Without the cash, how can they get the food to feed those in need during the pandemic? Hundreds of families will go hungry for days. . .”

“ I must try to find the owners of this bag and return it to him/her. But how can I do that when it is almost dinner time without anyone nearby to help me?”

“Wait, I have an idea. . . maybe I can carry this bag to school and ask the office to call the police. This way, the police will do their investigation and find the rightful owners so people wont go hungry.”

“Oh, what’s that?” A police cruiser zooms by and Officer Chauvin stops, and he spends 9’29” questioning why I am here outside the supermarket.

“Thanks to be an honest kid. I will take the bag of money from here. Someone will be really happy.”
