Salut 8C,
Just a reminder that your Test will now be on Tues April April 7th. As you already know, it will be on ER, IR, RE verbs plus le futur proche (aller + l'infinitif du verbe). You should have received your Practice Test yesterday. Mme Farzaneh will take it up with you so be sure to bring it back to school on Wednesday too if you are still taking it up. Make sure to check your answers and ask questions about anything you are unsure of. PLEASE take your practice test home over the weekend and continue to review in order to be prepared for your test. I will be here Thursday if you have any questions to ask me. A bientôt!
Merci
Mme Antoniou :)

Hummmmm
It is now 11:59pm on Monday, March 30, 2026.
As I am chilling on my Louis XIII Cognac at 24 Sussex Drive, nothing has happened. Everything is peaceful and quiet as I can hear the crickets in my backyard.
If you can look up the price of this Cognac from the link below, it is quite expensive, since it is one of the best in the world.
Only those with very low self-esteem would have left such foolish comments on my blog on Friday the 13th. Perhaps you should see a therapist and get help.
May I suggest Dr. Hannibal Lecter? He is a well-known psychiatrist in the field and can ease your pain.

Living in a warm climate is way better than living in another climate where it is cold, freezing, and devoid of cheerfulness whatsoever. [very odd first sentence]
Rephrase: It is far better living in a warmer environment than a cold one since most tend to be more
joyful and optimistic when the weather is pleasant.
There are just so many more advantages to living in a warm climate than a cold climate. For example, it’s less expensive, more free, and even more healthy. How is it less expensive? Well in colder climates, people need to buy winter related products
including winter tires, winter jackets, gloves, snowpants, hats, etc. It is also more expensive to maintain
comfort at home due to the monthly bill for heaters. [shopping list] Instead of paying monthly for heating at home or air conditioning, why not just open the window for a
cool breeze or some warm, fresh air?
Rephrase: With the price of fuel skyrocketing in the past few months, it is very possible that heating
a home or buying winter-related products such as jackets, snow tires and boots will be costly.
As most families struggle financially, this is another reason why it is better to stay in warmer regions.
Spring clothing is also easier and less expensive to buy and make, which helps the economy so nothing is too expensive to afford. Aside from costs, it is also way healthier to live in a warmer climate rather than a colder one.
First of all, it is statistically proven from a study conducted by Sigmund Freud [bad idea, he died in 1939.
That was not his researchthat people who live in sunnier regions tend to have higher levels of optimism and better mental health
than those who live in colder, darker climates. Also it is scientifically proven by Albert Einstein himself
[bad idea, he died in 1955. That was not his research] that increased sunlight exposure makes the brain
release a neurotransmitter called serotonin, which improves overall mood and mental health.
As a matter of fact, the increased sunlight exposure gives more vitamin D, which reduces links to seasonal
depression.
If you want to make up data, use a general publication instead of a famous person
E.g. According to research conducted by the University of Toronto,
In addition, because the climate is warmer, there are more opportunities for recreation and outdoor activities.
[more recreation opportunities are available to the general public so they can exercise, spend valuable family
time together instead of staying inside all day during the bitter cold winter] Outdoor recreational activities increase movement and exercise which in turn boosts the immune system and
gets the blood pumping, leading to a healthier body. Not only physically, but also mentally. [truncated short phrase] Because of the warm climate, more time is spent in nature. Taking walks, doing cardio,
and participating in activities outside stimulates endorphins and serotonin, improving long and short term mood
as well as improving sleep quality, [a list] which reduces anxiety and stress. [need to elaborate and explain better]
Elaborate with examples and justification: Imagine seeing the colourful flowers and hearing the chirping of the
robins in the garden or simply enjoying the breathtaking views from the downtown skyscrapers or the lush green
mountain in the Bruce Peninsula? These outdoor activities can only be appreciated fully when the weather is
warm and sunny.
Daily, people use cars even for the shortest routes mostly due to the cold temperature. Because of this, massive
amounts of pollution is released into the environment every day.
Destruction of ecosystems, poisoning of healthy bodies, and releasing greenhouse gases occurs every time people
start their car, where the chemicals linger in the air without any escape. [a list] This is a huge problem which can be fixed by doing something very simple: walking. In a warmer climate,
the weather is desirable enough that residents can walk comfortably to a variety of places including the
department store, restaurants, their friends’ houses, and schools. On that note, walking to places does not only
mean less pollution, but also more exercise and recreation; great for both mental and physical health. [this idea was stated before. Repetitive] Living in warmer climates boosts mental health and decreases pollution, but there are also more practical reasons. In colder climates, snow is likely, if not
certain to form. This creates a problem for all drivers because of the decreased visibility of the road, which in
turn, creates loads of accidents that result in serious injuries and even deaths. On the other hand, warmer
climates tend to have sunnier and clearer skies and atmosphere. Drivers are able to see the roads and other cars
clearly without second guessing themselves, and therefore leads to less accidents where no one dies.
In conclusion, living in a warmer climate is superior to living in a colder climate. Less accidents, less suicides,
and more importantly, less expensive.
This is an essay full of lists, going around circle
Explanation and reasons are vague and unclear. Must learn to elaborate
Look at my examples in blue
When making up research data, avoid using famous people. Instead, use an institution or publication (e.g. Times magazine, BBC document)
You are using the same words over and over again (red text)

8C SuperPower Essay
Most of the time, people become an annoyance in my everyday life. Why can’t they do what is needed to become successful? [question] Sometimes, it is a total waste of my time to even look at them, as if I need to engage more productively because time is money (metaphor). Only if they immediately turn into a golden statue, standing in the middle of the classroom, staying in stunned
silence, the day would be even better. If this can be done, money is no longer a problem as a golden figure is
worth millions. The only issue that puzzles me will be how I should spend the money to please my mind and soul.
Perhaps a monster yacht with a landing platform for the helicopter in case I like to sail to Fiji Island to watch the
beautiful sunrise in the morning? [ask a question to make the reader think] Needless to say, with a simple touch, miracles can happen with this unbelievable superpower!
After all the magical touches, suddenly, loneliness and isolation actually haunt my mind, with no one to talk to or interact with. Despite the chirping of birds, swimming with the dolphins
and thousands of zipping streaks of light in the night sky, I have begun to realize that relationships with another
human are absolutely necessary and this cannot be done with a giant sculpture standing in front of my face,
pretending to admire my superpower. The icy cold slap of a golden toilet seat (imagery, touch, cold feeling) can never be as passionate as a warm hug from my lovely wife and son.
Thus, after I turn half of the world into gold, I want to be human again with no special power.

Kwok's example
For thousands of years, after the kings or queens die in different nations, they like to be buried in golden caskets that represent wealth, power and longevity in the afterworld. If I can process a power that can turn everything into pure gold with a simple touch, that will be magical since my body sparkles like a shining star in the middle of the galaxy. (simile)

The Acadians - 8A, 8C History
The Acadians were forcibly deported by the British between 1755 and 1764 during the Seven Years' War, a period known as the Grand Dérangement (Great Upheaval). Over 10,000–18,000 Acadians were removed from their maritime homes because they refused to take an unqualified oath of allegiance to Britain, scattering them across the Thirteen Colonies, Britain, France, and eventually Louisiana, where many became Cajuns. Thousands died from disease, shipwreck, and starvation during this forced exile.
- The Cause: British officials in Nova Scotia, led by Governor Charles Lawrence, feared the neutral French-speaking Catholic population would support France, and coveted their fertile farmlands.
- The Process: Beginning in 1755, soldiers burned homes, farms, and churches, separating families and forcing them onto ships.
- Destinations:
- Thirteen Colonies: Many were sent to the Atlantic coast, where they faced28 persecution.
- France & Britain: Thousands were sent to Europe.
- Louisiana: Many later migrated to Louisiana, evolving into the Cajun culture.
- Return: After 1764, many surviving Acadians returned to the Maritime provinces, particularly New Brunswick, where their descendants live today.
